Invisible Sculpture

This group of sculptures’mouldings were created by the Radar reflected professional PhDs, but in the Radar reflection field, these aesthetic sculptures (in the artistic sense) do not exist – they were made to lose themselves. However, I chose carved white marble, beaten stainless steel, and other materials like gold-plated metal, and processed these mouldings into substances/real objects. I called these objects “sculptures.” Also I gave them poetic names, “Life,” “Endless Column,” “Sleeping Muses,” “Silent Table” etc.

They can be visible and able to be appreciated, but cannot be “seen” by precision scientific instruments. These works present a paradox in the concepts of space, light, radiation, art and science etc. (I worked with my programmer to make an algorithm that produces anti-radar or radar reflecting sculptures. When these sculptures are placed in a radar-detecting zone, their forms can irregularly reflect radar waves, meaning they are undetectable. The marble, stainless steel and gold-plated metal sculptures in front of you might look like “modern art”, but typically sculptures in “modern art” are created so they can be seen and appreciated. These invisible, undetectable sculptures are made to disappear and not be seen. They present the viewer with a paradox.)

During this period of uncertainty, I put everything into an artwork storage facility. At that time, I didn't have enough money to rent a good space so there were no windows and no light. When I walked into the storage room, I had to use a lighter to see, and it was at that moment that I realized, this situation of obscurity and darkness was a reflection of my feelings at that time. So, I made a replica of this dark storage situation in an exhibition space and covered the objects in charcoal to enhance their darkness.)
