The Moon Landing Program

The Moon Landing Based on the video tape recording U.S. astronauts landing the moon in 1969, the work is a perfect copy of the whole process. In order to realize process, props, costumes, and scene construction, lighting settings are required, the photographer had to find appropriate angle based on the original video footage, and the actors had to perform in accordance with the old photographs. Finally, the fake live video record of Moon-landing is finished, which will be displayed with the original one together. The work starts off by questioning the concept of “image”, and follows on by casting doubt on science, history and politics. The fake live video of Moon Landing record displays together with the original one, while on the show, the props in the glass cases displays along with an interactive installation. As a result, the display forms will make the viewer believe that they are actually in the science and technology museum. (The Moon Landing Program is a pivotal piece for me because it marks the shit in my work from being more transient and performance based, toexperimental work with more physicality and solidity. I studied this topic of astronauts, rocket and the moon for 2 years. I researched and madeclothes, props and landscapes to simulate the U.s moon landing in 1969. The work is a perfect copy ofthe original video and l play Armstrong. TheMoon Landing Program was displaed alongside the original one in an exhibition hall, which I decorated to mimic a science museum. alwavs thinkthat when people enter science museums, they believe everything they see to be authentic. In this case, the audience was also encouraged to interaciwith the props and objects, which were displayed in glass cases. Showing both videos alongside each other in this science museum format, I wasquestioning whether what we see is real. and thereore doubting the science, politics and history that we are taught in some ways, the history of anycountry is built by its authorities, and so we can't ever get a “real” history.)
