Light Squared

(Mingshen Bank has three museums in China; two in Shanghai and one in Beijing. They commissioned this work according to the interior of the building, which has a lot of translucent glass. Visiting the site, I took photographs of the glass at a certain time of day, recording the lights and shadows at that particular moment. I then printed and transferred these photographs so that they layered semi-transparently over the existing glass. Along the angular corridor that it is installed, one wall of glass is left uncovered, so that when you turn the corner, it is unclear whether what you assume to be reality has in fact been tampered with. When the time of day corresponds with my original photograph, the shadows on the printed panels echo the shadows of naked glass.)
