The Moon Landing Project
再造登月
Exhibition introduction
Adapted from the organizer's press releaseWang Yuyang's first solo exhibition in London approaches the moon as both a scientific object and an affective symbol. Its relation to time, tides, rain and seasons connects rational inquiry into the universe with mystical imagination.
The large-scale paintings draw on Michael Light's images of the lunar voyage. Painting through monochrome-filtered glasses separates seeing from colour selection, giving imagery based on lunar records an intense palette that cannot be predicted in advance.
The exhibition also includes the two-screen video installation The Moon Landing Program 4. By bringing the moon landing, image reconstruction and competing claims of authenticity together, it introduces a second thread spanning technological progress, historical records and conspiracy narratives.
