Project introduction
Su Wenxiang and Tang XinFrom historical images and physical myths to dust, Wang Yuyang’s early work repeatedly questioned the ontology of things. This project introduced Picture and Character and Speak, beginning with translation between language and image and with media recording itself, allowing image and recording to become their own monuments.

Expressive drawings are enlarged into a continuous mural whose QR-like blocks can be decoded as text; writing becomes image and image performs writing.

The sounds of cassette manufacture are recorded and copied onto the newly made tapes, allowing a medium normally used to record others to narrate its own birth.
