Foreword to Wormhole
Pi LiThe exhibition brought together Tonight I Shall Meditate on That Which I Am, Dust Is Dust, Artificial Moon and The Moon Landing Program to examine artificial reality, media, historical perception and bodily identity. It sustains a scepticism toward the social power of media and contemporary totemic events and objects.
Two new works, Electricity and Emblazonry, further materialized conscious energy and gender symbols. Wormhole is therefore both cosmic metaphor and a passage linking history, technology, politics and belief.

Ten thousand energy-saving lamps and high-voltage power create a four-metre cold white sphere, bringing the moon of ancient poetry into a modern cultural space.
Brain activity is converted into direct current and stored in a battery; the process of consciousness is unreadable yet sealed as energy.
The artist recreates the moon landing through the original camera angles, lighting, costumes and movements, juxtaposing the two recordings.
Images from The Moon Landing Program are extracted, dismantled and recomposed so that subject and object, existence and nothingness, turn into one another.
Microscopic dust is projected onto rotating water while image and basin move in opposite directions, reaching an apparent stillness at a particular speed.
